Guidelines for Improving the Development of Web-based Applications
Abstract
In this paper we present some useful guidelines for the development of
web-based applications within small-size Internet companies, working in web
site and e-commerce developments. We comment on the current trend of
development, its drawbacks, and then propose some guidelines to improve the
quality of such practice. These guidelines have been applied in practice
and it turns out to be very convenient and helpful. A simple case study is
provided to illustrate these guidelines. In our case study we used a simple
yet powerful Definitional Specification Language (DSL) to formalize the
requirements. An overview of DSL is offered.
